Kennedy’s fourth Killer Instincts romantic thriller (after Midnight Games) is a gripping and pulse-pounding tale. Juliet Mason, a professional thief turned contract killer, gets in deep trouble while on a personal mission seeking out her brother’s killer in Belarus. Her call for help is answered by Ethan Hayes, a very sexy, gentlemanly mercenary. He soon finds himself at odds with the impulsive Juliet over both the mission and their sexual attraction. To Juliet, it’s just sex and will end when the mission is over; to Ethan it’s the beginning of a relationship. The mission grows in complexity, and Ethan and Juliet get more in sync, both in the field and in the bedroom. Secondary characters add to the suspense and charm of the story, and series fans will be surprised by some twists in the ongoing drama between operatives Noelle and Jim. First-class adventure, passionate desire, and fierce characters make this a very satisfying page-turner.
